“Will You Love Me Later” by Hallworth
Written for Tongue Tied Magazine, May 2022
Releasing her second single on May 20th, Hallworth - also known as Hannah Lloyd - is breaking into the indie-pop music scene with "Will You Love Me Later".
This South London-based artist has a voice that sings like poetry and will make you fall in love with love songs. Self-produced by Hallworth and mixed by her brother Lewis, "Will You Love Me Later" is the first love song she has written and presented her with the challenge of putting her personal experiences into words and truly understanding the impact it had on her life.
"Will You Love Me Later" is about professing your love and effort for someone else, but having to ask and wondering when they will reciprocate the same energy. It's not a love song about anger and dismay, but one that leaves you hoping your next partner will be enough for you and one you can truly be vulnerable with. This song is beautifully sung and if you listen closely you can hear bits of her South London accent poking through the lyrics. "Will You Love Me Later" is performed in short sentences and while this gives you a chance to truly take in its emotion, I feel as though this breaks up the flow of the song. I would love to hear her words drawn out into the next line, closing the gaps between melodic moments. Other than that, a steady drum beat keeps pace through its entirety and allows you to really feel and understand the message.
With only two singles released to the world, Hallworth is already headlining tours in England, opening for 80s pop stars, and playing radio shows across the country. I think we are going to see a lot more of Hallworth in the future. Her music is too genuine to go unnoticed and I can already see her becoming an overnight music sensation.
