Philly-based duo Rubber - consisting of Andrew Loper (singer/vocalist) and John Della Franco (producer/multi-instrumentalist) - have created one of the most exciting post-COVID songs to date. While we are, unfortunately, not done with this pandemic, Rubber's "Fries & Wings" will be waiting for us when we are all ready to rejoin society's party scene.

Rubber has coined "Fries & Wings" to be a 'Mariah Carey slow-groove club anthem', a moment of peace during a night out. It's when you suddenly come to your senses and can finally begin to reminisce on the night before and ahead of you. This is heavily symbolized at the beginning of this single's music video when we see our lead singer exiting a bathroom and the music suddenly floods in once the door opens. This scene could have easily come across as cheesy, but I think starting the song off this way - especially as this is their main message to "Fries & Wings" - works beautifully.

"Fries & Wings" has a set of catchy lyrics, a subtle drumline, and just allows the vocals to take control of you. Andrew Loper showcases an insane amount of talent and portrays a range of vocals so effortlessly. This track is unique in that it doesn't necessarily allow for a sweaty, club-based dance party; however, it does force you to take a moment in whatever you are doing to really listen and be present in the moment. Which is something we could all be a little bit better at these days.

Following a steady rise on their social media platforms, the gender-bending Rubber could be the next big thing in the genre of R&B Pop. While I hope they spend time celebrating the release of this latest single, I am looking forward to their future releases.
