Samia Finnerty’s newest single, “As You Are”, is her most emotional and fragile song to date. The New York singer released her debut album The Baby just last year, and followed it up with The Baby Reimagined, featuring the voices of Briston Maroney, Donna Missal, Remo Drive, and more.

“As You Are” is the lead single off of her next project, an EP titled Scout, which will be released this week. The chorus alone is a devastating message that we all need to accept. The idea that we can be loved just the way we are is one that a lot of us struggle to adopt. The love of a significant other, mother, sibling, etc., comes in so many forms that sometimes we lose ourselves in who we are and who they want us to be.

The melody is so delicate you need to completely immerse yourself in it to truly appreciate it. Samia’s newest niche is including voicemails in her songs. She previously did this in “Pool” from her album, The Baby, and it adds a personal touch to her music. Life lately has pushed us all to reconsider the love we accept and to understand we are still worthy of love, even when we feel alone.
